Interview By: Emma Sikes

I had the opportunity to speak with the mouthpiece of Foxy Grandpa, Chase, for this hard-hitting, tell-all interview leading up to what will undoubtedly be one of the craziest thought-to-be orgies in Brooklyn, NY on Valentines Day around 7pm. Come, if not for the orgy potential, then to hear this Boston band’s rock country stylings. Hello, new fav band alert! Move over Emerson, Lake, & Palmer, here’s Chase, Matt, and Dominic of Foxy Grandpa.
Emma Sikes: Word on the street is that you’re my mom’s favorite band, what makes you so appealing to mothers everywhere?
Foxy Grandpa: We’ve found that older ladies tend to report back to us that we look just like their husbands, and they tend to dig that. Dominic says that I, (Chase) have a conservative poster boy look.
ES: Reagan energy.
Foxy Grandpa: Well…
ES: When did you decide it was time to settle down, get married, have kids, watch those kids have kids, and finally start a band?
FG: The band started in 2022, but I remember it like it was yesterday. It was the last day of the semester and we were all at a party, then this huge guy dressed like a cowboy storms in and says “Are there any foxy grandpa’s in the house”? Matt launched forward, I was hesitant but followed him, and Dom literally floated to us, and…the rest is history.
ES: Fabulous. What is your Grandparent name? (Peepaw, Geegaw, Grandaddy)?
FG: We will let our grandchildren decide what they would like to call us.
ES: Right, very progressive. When was the “Foxiest” era of music?
FG: The Harlem renaissance, because people would find the most eloquent way to talk about their penis in songs. The fashion too, was pretty awesome, pretty foxy. You have ragtime, and big bands, and swing, I’d consider it foxy, it got people to have sex and dance.
ES: Unfortunately it is not up to you, BUT if it were, what would be the name of your fandom?
FG: I think we call them foxies, so if they’ve got something better, tell them to let us know.
ES: Will do. What’s the most un-rockstar thing you do on the reg?
FG: I eat granola, I love granola and I take two naps a day. Oh, and I love to practice.
ES: GASP! Practicing? No! That’s not what Rock n Roll is about.
FG: I know it’s cliche but, practice is what separates the rock-constellations from the rock-stars.
ES: Oh, God! That was cliche. This is a question from a fan. Maggie G asks : Lyrically which song on your new album was the most emotionally draining to write?
FG: Definitely The Worm from the new album. Matt wrote it and cried the entire time. If you listen to it and don’t feel emotional you are for sure a robot. That is the new test, no more typing out jumbled letters or numbers.
ES: Ugh, now they’ll never believe that I’m human. Who’s the Foxiest Grandpa ; (Papa) Ozzy Osborne, Gruncle Stan, or Micheal Douglas (Bubba) ?
FG: Gruncle Stan, no question.
ES: Do you care what people’s favorite song of yours is? Does it tell you anything about them, as a person?
FG: We don’t care. I mean, Matt cares a little. People’s favorite songs tend to be Dom’s, and that actually doesn’t affect me (Chase) at all. When fans come up to me I try not to judge their favs but most of the time they like the deep cuts, so mad respect to the Foxies, I always knew our fans ruled and that we had them and that they like attending concerts in Brooklyn.
ES: What can attendees expect from your scheduled “love fest” on February 14th in BK at 7pm (clothing optional) ?
FG: It’s our first show back, actually it’ll be the first time Matt and Dom have seen each other since the Summer. So the tension will be palpable. We’re playing a new song, and a friend of the band, Charlotte, has made beautiful t-shirts that will be for sale. Everyone will go home happy and lovey and Foxy, guaranteed.
You heard it here, folks, all the hot cool people will be in attendance. Are you hot and/or cool?
